Jim Corbett National Park is part of the largest reserve, the Corbett Tiger Reserve; Project Tiger is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The majestic landscape of Corbett is known for its tiger wealth. Corbett was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park and has the fame of being the oldest and most prestigious national park in India. It is also credited as the place where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973. This unique tiger territory is best known as the father that gave birth to Project Tiger in India to protect the most endangered species and the royal wild animal of India. called Tigers.

Tourist zones
To promote tourism in this region, Corbett National Park has been divided into six main different tourist zones. These are the obvious core or buffer areas of the park where visitors can become part of a wildlife safari and enjoy the enticing behavior of the animals with their naked eyes in the surroundings.

Bijrani Safari Zone : Bijrani Zone is a very popular tourist center due to its rich natural beauty and open grasslands. The entrance gate of the zone is located just 1 km from Ramnagar town.

Jhirna Safari Zone : Jhirna is another important tourist zone in Jim Corbett National Park which is open for tourists throughout the year. Jhirna Gate is located at a distance of 16 km from Ramnagar city.

Dhela Safari Zone : Dhela is a new eco-tourism zone in Corbett National Park which was included in the tiger reserve zone in November 2014. This is the only area in the buffer zone of the reserve open to tourists in CTR. Due to its rich biodiversity, the zone maintains the attention of a large number of tourists and is open throughout the year. It is also located at an approximate distance of 13 km from Ramnagar city.

Dhikala Zone : Dhikala is the largest and most diverse jungle safari zone in Corbett and is known for its rich natural beauty and also for offering the best view of its exotic fauna. The entry gate is 18 km from Ramnagar city. An overnight stay at the Dhikala tourist zone is highly recommended for die-hard wildlife enthusiasts.

Durga Devi Zone : Durga Devi Zone is situated on the north-eastern border of Jim Corbett National Park and is a paradise on planet earth for bird watchers. The entrance gate is located at an approximate distance of 36 km from Ramnagar city.

Sitabani Buffer Zone : The Sitabani Zone does not come under the Corbett Tiger Reserve. But if you like peaceful atmosphere of natural beauty then you must visit Sitabani area.

Reserve your Jeep Safari!

Jeep Safari is available only in Corbett Sanctuary Zone. Even though it is scary, you will enjoy the night panorama immensely. There are many zones that will provide you with a jeep safari to experience the sights of the region. Morning safari times are from 6:30am to 9:30am in winter and 5:30am to 8:30am in summer. And the evening safari timings are from 14:30 to 17:30 in winter and from 15:30 to 18:30 in summer.

How to contact Corbett

Ramnagar is perhaps the closest to the Corbett National Park which configures the headquarters of the CTR. This small town is well connected by rail and road network to major cities of India like Delhi, Moradabad, Nainital and Bareilly. Once you reach Ramnagar, it takes only half an hour to reach Corbett National Park. The park is about 15 km from Ramnagar railway station.

By Road: Ramnagar has a very good network of roads connecting various towns. Corbett National Park is located at an approximate surface distance of 260 kilometers from the capital city of India, Delhi. Uttarakhand State Government runs short time interval buses from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldwani and Nainital which reach Corbett directly.

By Train: Ramnagar railway station receives trains from various major cities of India like Delhi, Moradabad and Bareilly. There is also a direct train to Ramnagar from Delhi. You can take various incoming trains namely Ranikhet Express, Corbett Link Express and Kathgodam Express which will take you directly to Ramnagar.

Dhikala Forest Lodge

Jim Corbett National Park is the only national park in India that offers overnight accommodation in the jungle. Dhikala Forest Lodge is a historical structure built hundreds of years ago by the British. This old motor station is very popular with tourists. It offers cozy accommodation with breathtaking views of the flora and fauna. It is not very luxurious, but the experience of staying in the middle of the jungle is simply unforgettable. Tourism inside the park is operated and managed by the forest department. Various types of accommodation are available at Dhikala Forest Lodge. In addition to forest rest stops, lodges and cabins, Annexe Dhikala also has 24 bunks in log cabins.

Tourists Name, Age, Gender, Identity Proof (Passport Number, PAN Number, Voter ID, Adhaar Number) must be provided along with the confirmation amount for further booking process. Dormitory/room availability will be confirmed 90 days prior to actual arrival date.
